After the last sky is devised performance piece which uses Jean Genet’s ‘The Maids’ and ‘Deathwatch’ and the exiled Palestinian writer Muhmoud Darwish’s poem ‘The Earth is Closing on us’ as the starting point. It investigates concepts of cross gender sexual and political power play, exile and class division.
“After the Last Sky” was performed in public for the first time in August 2011 in the Space at Nottingham Contemporary.
A live multi-media performance produced by local young people in association with Urban Angel.
The Bunker is part of a secret research station owned by Geo-Synthetics Corporation. G.S.C is a medical development organisation that produces revolutionary anti-viral medicine. However greed drives them to deviate from their course… someone makes a fatal error and a new virus escapes… It’s a race against time to see who or what will survive…
Working with Culturegen, the arts and creative industries development service for Stafford Borough, Urban Angl worked with two groups of young people aged between 14-16 years to produce both a trifold leaflet about the village of Stone’s industrial heritage and a short film based on a local story of witches.
The participants researched the subjects by working with Staffordshire County Council Museum Service, a local history group and British Waterways. The film and leaflet were then designed/scripted and produced by the participants with guidance from Urban Angel.
